Cultural heritage – museums in Bohinj
Our family loves travelling, and whenever we want to feel the historical throb of the city or the country in which we currently reside, we visit museums. When Jure, the oldest child, is given the task of organizing a day of his choice in a foreign city, we spend the day morning to evening visiting all available historical museums. In Bohinj, you can also get to know our cultural and natural history by visiting local museums. And if you want to talk or learn about the history of the inhabitants of Slovenian territory, male members of our family are the ones to go to.
The Bohinj Historical Museum in the house of Tomaž Godec presents the history of Bohinj from the first settlement in the Iron Age until the Second World War.
The Alpine Dairy Museum shows the Bohinj way of life through a century-old connection between people, mountains and cows.
Oplen house offers a completely preserved insight into the living culture of the people of Bohinj from the end of the 19th century.
Hayracks in Studor are still used today for harvesting hay, field crops, drying grass and protecting it from bad weather, and they are a landscape specialty on a global scale.
