Cuisine – good local food

Most members of our family love to cook, and the rest are happy to eat the meals, so we spend a lot of time on food. Traditional Bohinj dishes are often on our table such as: various sorts of cheese (the most famous Bohinj cheese is Emmental with big holes), mohant cheese with boiled potatoes and spoonbread from the indigenous sort of hard corn with sour milk or cracknels, walnut and tarragon potica and cheese rolls. Every Saturday morning, locals gather at the market in Bohinjska Bistrica with local produce and products, and there you can buy many traditional dishes and products.

Together with our family members or friends, we often visit Bohinj inns and enjoy their culinary service, so we can advise you first hand where to eat delicious trout, lake char or other exclusive house specialties made from local ingredients and awarded the Bohinj certificate.
